Every army has Drill Sergeants, even ancient armies. This is an assembled kit from El Viejo Dragon of Spain. The kit needs a little more cleanup and then paint before being mounted on a Walnut base.

Life for a Roman soldier was harsh and uncompromising. Centurions carried canes that they used frequently and with effect on anyone who was sloppy or not performing to the best of their abilities. A soldier could expect a variety of punishments for any violations he may have committed. Demotion, loss of privileges and a spell in the brig were the most common forms of punishment for even small indiscretions.
