Clan MacArthur
Isle of Skye, 1690
One of the few musical instruments to be classified as a weapon of war, Bagpipes are forever linked with Scotland thanks in part to England. After Culloden, it was illegal to own or play Bagpipes and the possession of pipes meant flogging, jail, or even death, except for the Scottish Regimental Pipers in units raised from loyal clans. Clan MacArthur Pipers were the hereditary Pipers to Clan Campbell.
