Heavy volley fire greets French Cuirassiers and Carabiniers as they attacked the Raievski Redoubt during the Battle of Borodino. This was the largest and bloodiest single-day battle of the Napoleonic Wars, involving more than a 250,000 soldiers and resulting in at least 70,000 casualties. Napoleon was quoted as saying: "Of all my 50 battles, the most terrible was the one I fought at Borodino".
