This is a planned diorama with figures from Verlinden, Worster Miniatures assessories, and Nemrod - a wounded British Spanish Officer is being protected by a Soldier of the Saragossa garrison while a French trooper of the 9th Hussars closes in. The Foam and Bondo base is mounted on Cocobolo.
Saragossa
Spain, 1809
The siege of Saragossa is widely considered one of the most brutal battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Individual battles were remarkable for their ferocity. At one point in the San Augustin Convent the French held the altar end of the chapel and exchanged shots for hours with the Spanish entrenched in the nave and the belfry. Although the French won in the end, most of the city lay in ruins, and around 54,000 people had perished in the siege.
