This is an unfinished 54mm white metal kit from Andrea that will be mounted on Zebra wood. This is a repeat build of an earlier diorama I gave to my oldest brother Billy, which was actually cooler (lots of water, with a Moose from Preiser Models swimming), but I just like the figures pose, so I wanted to paint it again.
Boosway
Wyoming, 1830
Approximately 3,000 mountain men ranged the western mountains in between 1820 and 1840, the peak beaver harvesting period. While there were many free trappers, most mountain men were employed by fur companies. The militarized life of these men was very regulated. The men had mess groups, hunted and trapped in brigades and always reported to the head of the trapping party, called a "Boosway", a bastardization of the French term bourgeois.
