The Mohawks were a part of the Iroquois Confederation, which originally consisted of the Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida and Mohawk tribes. They largely sided with the British during the French and Indian War due, in part, because of their long standing war with the Huron, which sided with the French.
