After modeling dozens of tank models, I wanted to model a tank interior, but How to show it off? Cut-away interiors are beautiful, but don’t fit naturally into scenic dioramas. Conversely, if you don’t create a cut-away, you lose all your interior detail when the hatches are closed. The only answer was to detail a wreck. I have lots of pictures of wrecks from WW2, but I settled on my favorite subject – the German Jagdpanzer 38t Hetzer. Originally, I had envisioned a burned-out Hetzer being pushed off the road by a Sherman Bull Dozer Tank. I couldn’t find the correct angle for showing off the Hetzer’s interior, so like any good modeler, I decided to add more pieces, and a junkyard was born.
